The Pat Smith Habitat for Humanity Endowment Fund was established by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Lexington Habitat for Humanity.

With the blessing of Pat’s family, donations in memory of Pat’s service to people in need of safe, decent and affordable housing worldwide can be sent to Lexington Habitat for Humanity.

Pat Smith died in the crash of ComAir Flight 5191 on
Sunday, August 27, 2006.

He was on his way to Gulfport, Mississippi to assist in the Kentucky-Mississippi Habitat Rebuilding Project there.

According to Habitat for Humanity International, more than 500,000 families in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Texas were left with destroyed or severely damaged homes from the 2005 hurricanes.

For the past 20 years, Pat Smith has worked in Lexington, Kentucky and around the world as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Boards of Directors of Lexington Habitat for Humanity and of Habitat for Humanity International.
